Interesting, I always thought that Nick was very much influenced by women.
Well, he is the youngest of seven, with five older sisters, so I have absolutely no difficulty believing that women have been a formative influence on his life.
Nick with a hidden oedipus complex?
It's hidden? ::g::
Actually, I think Nick is attracted to maturity and a certain self-assuredness, which is why I can also buy Nick/Grissom. I suspect it may have something to do with the abuse he suffered as a child, and the fact that he's the youngest of seven. He's used to being surrounded by people older than him, and I think part of him needs that almost 'protective' older partner. He certainly seems to need Grissom's approval badly, at least early on in the series, and Cath has a relationship with him that's equal parts indulgent and flirty. It gives their whole give and take very playful feel, at least as far as I'm concerned :)
