Thank you :) I wanted to compare and contrast them - Sam as this unobtainable ideal, always out of reach even when Rodney's close, and therefore desirable. And John, always touchable, simply there in a way that Sam wasn't, and Rodney's at a simple touch.

And Rodney, poor sap, doesn't understand that on an intellectual level, but feels it anyway :)
