Honey, I [insert groan worthy pun here]

Does anyone else look at their calendar on their LJ page and the filled in boxes and think, 'Ooooh. If I made a post today, I could make a pretty pattern'? Or even, 'I can't post today, because that will mess up the pattern I've got going on!'

No? Just me then.

Before I get into the veggie meat substitute of today's post (oooooh, pretty pattern!), I just wanted to remind you all - because of course you are all going to sign up and simply haven't got around to it yet! - that the sign-ups for both[livejournal.com profile] sga_santa and the Czech is in the Male ficathingies close on the 31st. And you are going to sign up, aren't you? Especially for the Czech is in the Male thing-a-thon because there are currently 12 sign ups and I haven't signed up, and I can't sign up if that means that there are going to be 13 participants. Not even if it closes on Halloween because... dude. Thirteen!

So, go sign up. It's okay. I'll wait here for you to come back.

...

Okay, now that you've all signed your lives away up, I have a question, oh wise and friendly and helpful flist. See, I woke up this morning and for some reason (I'm blaming [livejournal.com profile] munchkinott because she's so convenient to blame). Not so much for the waking up bit, but for the fact that me - who seldom wears perfume) suddenly had a hankering for honey scents.

I love Lush's (ha! totally typed lust in there first) honey, I washed the kids soap. I love the fact that when I shower with it first thing in the morning, I can smell honey at random times during the day (and have to fight the urge to flap my top just to get a waft of honey - oh, shut up. You'd all do it too if you smelt as yummy). So I've been thinking for a while, 'Hmmmm... I wish that lasted longer.'

Being an idiot, it didn't dawn on me until today that perhaps someone did a honey scent.

::head desk::

I am occasionally slow on the uptake.

And in thinking about who might make a honey scent - and hating going to perfume counters where they lie in wait for you - I thought BPAL. I know some people on my flist are fans, so I thought I'd pick your brains.

I'm thinking of ordering some imps, especially as the exchange rate is in my favour at the moment. I'm also thinking a maximum of 12, as the postage is the same up until then and frankly, the postage to the UK is almost as much as 6 imps as it is. So it makes sense to order 12.

I've come up with a short list - a very short list - of what I think I'd like to try in a honey range. These are:

Blood Kiss
Hetairae
Gennivre, L'artiste Du Diable
Jezebel
Dragon's Milk

This is just a tentative shortlist, so if you think any of them aren't all that, I'd like to know that too. I'm not sure about Jezebel, because I'm not sure about Sandalwood.

I'd like to branch out from there as well. I like scents that aren't too sweet and florally, but I love honey and vanilla, because I love the warmth that those scents bring with them. I love cinnamon type scents too, and as Christmas is coming up that's possibly pushing me in that direction, and maybe even chocolate type notes. I'm not sure about that, though, because I think chocolate might not smell so good on me. So warm tones are definitely something I'm leaning towards.

I like crisper scents too - the one I'm using tonight is a watermelon one from Bath and Body that I got when I went to stay with [livejournal.com profile] terimaru last year, but while I do like it, it turns a little chemically on me after a while. So perhaps something in that vein without the chemically aftertaste. Nothing too overpowering, because I'm really not someone who wears perfume regularly.

But I'm fairly open to suggestions. What do you think I have to try. What do you think that I'll love, given what I've said or what do you think I'll just love because you do and why?

So, what would you recommend. Pimp me, baby. Pimp me hard.

have to fight the urge to flap my top just to get a waft

So...I'm not the only one who smells myself, if, you know, I smell good! Gooooood to know!

Those perfume counters are a joke. I power walk through them, b/c I'm afraid if I ran, I'd bump a counter and end up with loads of smells all over me. I hate when they aim the bottle at you. Next time, I swear, I'm gonna freeze, stand in a defensive stance and back away slowly...

Um, have you tried Bath & Body Works? They always have good smelling stuff. Not sure about honey, but it's a thought. http://www.bathandbodyworks.com/home/index.jsp

Personally, 13 is one of my lucky numbers since I wrote a brilliant final test on a Friday, the 13th.

I have no idea about Lush products, but I like the names "Blood Kiss" and "Dragon's Milk".

Centzon Totochtin is cinnamon-y on me. It's the first imp that I've run out of and am trying to obtain in a larger size!

If you like honey and vanilla, you might like to add O (amber and honey with a touch of vanilla) to your list. It's warm and feminine, and among the most popular BPAL blends. Bengal's got honey and cinnamon in it if you want something spicier, or there's Kali for honey and chocolate goodness.

Gennivre, L'artiste Du Diable unfortunately isn't available as a single imp as it's part of the Carnaval Diabolique range, which can only be bought as bottles or large imp sets, but you might be able to find a decanted imp for sale on the BPAL forum or various BPAL comms on LJ.

(Yep, I'm addicted!)

Do Lush not do a corresponding scent for Honey, I Washed The Kids? If they don't, they might get around to it. I know they made a fragrance for Karma, because that one was so popular. Maybe write them and ask if they could do a honey perfume? They do seem to love consumer suggestions.

One of my Lush favourites was always the Hot Milk? bubblebar - although I didn't spot it in the Lush Times this month. But that's a lovely honey scent.

Probably my favourite perfume is the Bodyshop's Vanilla Vanilla - does exactly what it says on the tin. It's not a stupidly expensive perfume but it lingers and fades nicely the way really expensive perfumes are supposed to. And it makes me smell like a big cake.

*hugs*

I've switched to The Body Shop's coconut soap-free body wash and the matching spray on lotion. It's awesome.

Now you've made me want more Honey I Washed the Kids. I love that stuff. So I guess I need to make an account online and get to shopping. I'll have to order online from The Body Shop, too, cause the nearest store is in Knoxville and I just never get down there.

I think we've sold the house! We got an offer today. Thank the Lord for Yankees with lots of disposable income. :D
