I keep doing drabbles. Someone stop me, please. I could drabble for England, I really could. I went on a mad drabble spree in New Pros a couple of years back and there are still people who twitch every time the words 'drabble' and 'alyse' are mentioned.
I do like those little snippets though. I like the cleanness of them, the challenge of conveying something within a limited number of words. If they're done well, they're crisp, small and perfectly formed. It's possible to ramble within a drabble and say nothing, but I love the challenge of making every single word count. It makes my little geeky heart happy to play about with words until it's snappy and pointed.
And for that very reason I think that drabbles are perfectly suited to Sam/McKay. They snap and sizzle and convey a world of mingled attraction and repulsion with a few choice words, so how can you not use the perfect vehicle of a 100 words drabble to convey that?
