Totes looking forward to Doctor Who tonight. I don't know why - I'm not spoiled and I haven't even read the synopsis that comes with TV guides and the like. In fact, I don't remember the trailer from last week and my memory is so bad at the moment I can't even think what it was about.

I think it's just because it's Saturday! And it's Doctor Who! And in spite of the fact that I realised yesterday that it's Eurovision tonight, Doctor Who is not cancelled! It's ridic how it's the little things that can make me happy at the moment.

I appear to have flaked completely on [community profile] mmom/[livejournal.com profile] mmom. And I was doing so well. I keep thinking I should catch up, and then I get further and further behind, and then I'm 'meh'. The writing thing seems to have stalled over the last few days, and I'm sure your friends pages are very glad for it ::g:: At some point I will have to count the amount of words I've written over the last six weeks, but today is not that day. Today is a sleepy 'I woke up at 3.30 again and couldn't get back to sleep' day. I finally nodded off at just after six, then Nibble woke me up at 8 then I had to get up to get The Sun. Do not judge me! They were doing the Lego thing that The Mirror did last year, and Nibble is now the proud owner of a Lego X-Wing. The problem is they sell out really, really quickly, so I had to get there before 9.

Tomorrow may require a trip to the Metro Centre, since I don't think that the local WH Smith is open on a Sunday.

And thus is my exciting life. Tomorrow, Costco!

Also, while I don't normally do the love meme thing, I'm feeling all wallowy today, probably because of lack of sleep. I've spent the last couple of days stalking you all on it, so I figured I might as well sign up myself, even though I'll be all 'wah, no one will comment!' (I've felt so bad for some of the people who I don't know but who don't have comments, I came ~this close~ to stalking their LJs so I could pretend to know them and leave 'you're awesome!' comments - probably for the same reason I've been a) writing porn, b) eating carbs like it's going out of fashion, and c) crying at ridiculous adverts. And pictures of kittens. I am owning my ridiculousness).

THE YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL MEME

I'm here.

Also, also... there is no also. Although I'm sure there was at one point. All my alsos have fled ::sad face::

(P.S. Bones also made me cry. Damn you, Bones!)
I have taken to starting e-mails to [personal profile] aithine with 'Don't hate me!' as I send yet another deluge of fic in her direction.

Also, I have caved, and my Fic - Complete folder now has a Blade Trinity folder of its own instead of stories being hidden in 'Other'. With two finished fics, and three WIPs, I think it's time.

I have 7 [livejournal.com profile] kissbingo squares not yet started (one of which I have earmarked for someone), three finished and waiting for beta/to post, and two WIPs, one of which is almost there and the other of which has grown a plot.

I have not yet done my [livejournal.com profile] legendland hiatus challenge, but at this point I'm like 'pfft. 15 drabbles by 30 April? Easy peasy!'

Hubris, thy name is 'Al'.

Have just written another LotS kissing ficlet tonight. As I just said to [personal profile] aithine, ph34r m3 and ma speedy fic writing! This might (she says, tempting fate) actually be one occasion where I fill all requests.

::gulp::
3some porn won by one vote. Only one vote, and Primeval angst was a very close second, but still. It's Porn Sunday, apparently.

And [personal profile] aithine says I have to post all three threesome porn stories. Oh, the things I do for her you...

That strangely mysterious fandom that [personal profile] moonlettuce and I keep threatening to write in? I was like totally bummed that I'd used the logical [livejournal.com profile] kissbingo square already? And then I just like totally thought, omg! I could do a postage stamp and use the four squares in that corner! And that will totally work except for one of the squares that I may have to think about but it's cracky crack so whatever, loser.

Also, I'm like totally bummed that I can't write Abby/Connor any more. I like started one a month ago? And it's like totally crap and I'm on the fifth version of it and it's still shit. So then I like started another one for another square? And I'm like on the second version of it and it like still totally blows. I mean, omg! My Abby/Connor mojo is like totally broken! Can you believe it? So I like totally hate myself and stuff.

Also, so is my slash mojo. Like totally broken, I mean. I'm such a loser, lol.

And I need to stop talking like a Valley Girl. Like, totally!

According to Nibble's just now made pronouncement, the rain is [personal profile] catwalksalone's fault. Which is worrying for a number of different reasons, not least of which is that it is not actually raining.

::eyes you::

Are you two still battling on the astral plane? Because it's past his bedtime, you know, and young Sith Lords need their rest if they're going to take over the known universe.
I've mentioned a few times that I have a mental chart of hierarchical needs when it comes to fandom. Think of it as a ::counts on fingers:: three step process determining what, if any, my participation is in any particular fandom. I may even have spelled it out once or twice in comment threads elsewhere, but I've never done the meta post I've been meaning to do, that sets it out neatly and so I can point to it and go, "There! That's what I'm talking about!"

However, during the most recent meta go around, or at least the most recent meta go around that I got involved in, the one on misogyny in fandom, I think I might have promised [personal profile] miera_c a flowchart. Geek to the core, baby!

Today, at lunchtime, I was a wee bit bored so I sat down and sketched it out, and I scanned it in this evening.

So, here it is, in pictorial form, Al's Hierarchy of Fannish Needs (As A Flowchart). The steps that set out how life determines whether or not I will participate in any particular fandom.

I did have more meta - some thoughtful ruminants on where particular fandoms fit for me - first level would be shows like Firefly or early Buffy, where I watched the show avidly but never felt the need to participate in fandom because my primary interaction was with the source material. Also, earlier I was thinking about my fic tendencies and the patterns that I've exhibited throughout my fannish life. But it is late and I am tired and so I will explain. No, it will take too long. I will sum up.

  • I like strong women, I cannot lie.

  • It's not the parts, it's the pairing.

  • Gen? What gen? aka I love gen. It's called 'the show'.
There. Your meta for this evening ::g::
Still watching this and it is utterly, irredeemably bad. And consequently it is utterly, irredeemably awesomesauce! And I am very pleased that for once, the female heroine plumped for the middleaged but kind of cute Japanese character rather than the aged American lothario, and I am on tenterhooks to see if he makes it to the end of the movie.

But even that has nothing on the great love between Mega Shark and Giant Octopus. Their love crosses oceans, and species barriers! Dudes. Totes doing it!
Does anyone remember Patrick Duffy? You know, the guy who played Bobby on Dallas and the Man from Atlantis. Yes. That Patrick Duffy.

Apparently these days he spends his time discussing issues of world shattering importance with his best friend, things like 'what's facebook' and 'America's Top Model' and my personal favourite - Patrick Duffy and The Crab discuss threesomes.

Yes. The Crab. No, that's not a cutesy nickname. And I am so utterly gutted that nominations for this year's Yuletide have already ended because right now I'm slashing Patrick Duffy with a puppet crab. And it is to ♥

Thankfully all of these brilliant insights into the human (and crab) condition are documented on one nifty channel on youtube. Go watch. I've already had [personal profile] aithine giggling at me over IM.
Cue TMNT references in five... four... three... two...

One.
So, apparently new research confirms that sex reduces the stress related to public speaking, although that's only true if penetrative sex is involved.

Oh, the possibilities of Character A convincing Character B that really, they need to have sex before they give that speech/lecture/deliver that diatribe to the unschooled!

Penetrative sex, natch.

So... what are you all waiting for? Go forth and porn!

It started life as a drabble for the drabble tree and kind of grew into something incredibly silly.

But it had to be done. Well, I had to do it anyway.

SG:A, kind of John/Rodney, silly, 892 words and sort of a kind of weird but not quite crossover with Babylon 5.

Yeah. That sums it up. Also, G rated.

Because Ivanova really *is* God. )

I definitely need an 'Ivanova is God' icon.

[ETA: OMG! I finally wrote 'aliens made them do it' fic! ::cackles::]
Pervy SG1 porn. Jonas/? )

Now, will someone please fetch that bucket of bleach for my brain? Thank you kindly.

ETA: And no matter what [livejournal.com profile] misssimm has to say about it, this is most definitely her fault.
