New season of Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries starts airing on the 6th September and I cannot wait!

Currently rewatching Season 1 with [personal profile] aithine and giggling and gasping and admiring the awesome and the snark and the beautiful costumes!

If you haven't seen this show yet, you're missing out. Basically, it's a series about a lady detective in 1920s Melbourne, based on the books by Kerry Greenwood. Phryne Fisher is awesome, the supporting cast are adorable (especially Hugh and Dot), the mysteries are engaging, there's a gay female doctor who's Phryne's best friend, Phryne has a variety of love interests and an interesting and engaging relationship with Inspector Jack Robinson, who is both exasperated with and admiring of Phryne (in that he goes rapidly from thinking she's an interfering socialite to understanding that she's smart, brave and has insight and starts listening to her in very short order, while also being smart and insightful himself).

I could wax lyrical, but I think it's best if I give you a link to some posts on tumblr that give you a flavour of it here.

And my favourite:

Miss Fisher: When I disturbed him and he ran off with the book, I gave chase, and he took a shot at me, so I did the only thing I could in the circumstances.

Detective Inspector Jack Robinson: You called for help?

Miss Fisher: I stabbed him in the shoulder.

In short, I love it and if you haven't seen it yet, you should seriously check it out.
[personal profile] aithine is humouring me. This is never less than entertaining. I don't know if I mentioned it, but I persuaded her to watch LotS, and she watched the pilot a few days ago. So there she was, watching away, and I asked - less than innocently - where she was up to.

And then cued the video to the point she'd reached so we could watch it together over IM.

Tonight, she says to me - and I quote - "gimme a few to finish making my lunch and we can watch ep 3."

\o/

It's like Watching with Mother, if 'Mother' was younger than I am and several thousand miles away.

Anyway, to give this post a point, let me bring you a really, really cool LotS video, one that showcases the often dark sides of the episodes, just in case you thought it was all puppies and rainbows and shirtless!Richard and Richard wanting teh BABIES!. Because it is all of those things, but it's also this as well:

Clips from both season 1 and season 2, as it features Cara as well as Richard and Kahlan, and it's basically about how badass and implacable they can be. Well, it's called 'The Bringer of Death', so what do you expect, but it is also awesome and shivery making because much as I adore all three of them, I really wouldn't like to be on the receiving end of their badassery.
Does anyone remember Patrick Duffy? You know, the guy who played Bobby on Dallas and the Man from Atlantis. Yes. That Patrick Duffy.

Apparently these days he spends his time discussing issues of world shattering importance with his best friend, things like 'what's facebook' and 'America's Top Model' and my personal favourite - Patrick Duffy and The Crab discuss threesomes.

Yes. The Crab. No, that's not a cutesy nickname. And I am so utterly gutted that nominations for this year's Yuletide have already ended because right now I'm slashing Patrick Duffy with a puppet crab. And it is to ♥

Thankfully all of these brilliant insights into the human (and crab) condition are documented on one nifty channel on youtube. Go watch. I've already had [personal profile] aithine giggling at me over IM.
