Alyse: last of her breed

Bugger. Woke up just after 4 and can't get back to sleep for some reason. Now the birdsong has started so I've got buggerall chance.

But there was one thing I wanted to say last night before I went to bed early and that is that my son is kind of awesome. We were in Asda last night and we passed the displays for the new Twilight DVD and he asked if I'd seen it or read the books. When I explained that I hadn't he asked why. I was kind of focused on getting the shopping and was a little stressed because I hate grocery stores at the best of times but I figured it was important. Important enough to flail through it in the most distracted of fashions. So I explained that I wasn't very comfortable with the message it sent to young women.

"How come?" he asked.

"Well, it presents some behaviour as acceptable and romantic when it's really not."

"Like what?"

"Well, he breaks into her house and watches her sleep."

"Stalker."

No hesitation. He just came right out and said it in the most disdainful tone of voice. 11 years old and he gets it.

I figure I must be doing something right.
