First there was one. Then there were two. Then Lindsey came along and two plus one suddenly, magically equalled three. Three indivisible. So she thought.
She was wrong. First they became two plus one, not three, with Lindsey and her on one side of the equation and Eddie on the other. Then Eddie was taken away entirely. Back down to two.
She likes two. It's a cool number, small and perfect. She resists any addition and no sweet smiles or hopeful, brown eyes will convince her otherwise.
Until Lindsey starts saying 'us three' and she realises there's no resisting arithmetic.
