Well, if you do, make sure that you sign up to a mailing list with that id, and make it early in the alphabet.
As chopchica commented, it seems to be people with a, b, or c beginning usernames, which makes sense if he really is picking them up from yahoogroup mailing lists.
All he's got to do is look for the people who are online, and if he starts from the beginning and keeps going until he gets to the first online person, he's likely to keep hitting the early part of the alphabet each time.
And then, when he pings you, you can kick his ass for me.
