Alec FTW! He's a very interesting character, and I love the way that he sparks off all of the other characters. His growth over the season was one of the highlights, for me. It makes sense that at first he'd be all about him but I suspect he's more like Ben than he wants to think - Max does say that Ben made them all feel loved. Alec's the one who says that Ben sounded like a nice kid, but I suspect Alec would have been too.

It's the way that he treats Joshua - like a friend, not a child the way that Max treats him - and the way that he doesn't hesitate to call Max on her crap but is still there as a (literal) shoulder to cry on when she needs in, in spite of the fact that by her own admission she's been a bitch to him.

But then I think that Alec actually likes the fact that she's a bitch to him - it gives him something to butt against just as it gives her.

And I love, love, love Dawg Day Afternoon, after they find out about Annie, and neither Max nor Alec hesitate to put their arms around Joshua and Alec even kisses the top of his head the way that he did for Max when she was grieving. To me that says not only has Alec grown up, but that he's willing to reach out, be that person - like Ben - who makes others feel loved, and for someone who survived a Manticore that got worse after Max escaped that's a hell of an achievement, scamming and womanising and selfishness aside.

I'm just a tad smitten, by Alec and 'Max and Alec' both. And by 'Max and Alec and Joshua' ::g:: Can you tell?
