Wow. Thank you for taking the time to write some lovely (and detailed) feedback :) I'm thrilled that you enjoyed it. I'm even more thrilled that you think that the characterisation works for you, as this was only my second DA story and it's always a worry when it's a new fandom :)
I'm glad that Logan's hesitation worked for you. I'm really not fond at all about some of the character bashing that goes on in the fandom, especially not of Logan (I tend to read a lot of Max/Alec fic) so I do try to make sure that the Logan I write is flawed but still human - still the dedicated, occasionally too focused but compassionate man we see on screen. There's no doubt that he loves Max, no matter how things work out between them, so under those circumstances I think that it's perfectly understandable that he'd hesitate. I know I would in his shoes.
But at the end of the day, he tries so hard to do the right thing and in spite of the tension between him and Alec, he usually comes through.
And I do so love needy Alec, for the same reasons you do - those little hints of vulnerability, covered up quickly by his 'I'm always all right' attitude. He grows so much through the course of the season, and he's still growing as a person by the end of Season 2. I would have loved to have seen Season 3, to see whether he grew into a leader too, but even without it, it's fascinating to watch Alec blossom after the way that Manticore stunted him - stunted all of them really, at least emotionally.
But thanks again for taking the time to comment, and so nicely as well :)
