Wow. Just read a marvellous J/D fic that's come through on alphagate and Gateway. Introspective and dark Daniel fic, with some beautiful imagery and symbolism and, best of all, no easy answers. Crossroads by Zillah. Go read it. Now. I demand it. It has it's flaws, yes, but there's no denying the power of it.

Yep, I'll second that 'wow'. :) Thank God there are still writers like that amongst the mess that is the Stargate fandom.

Thanks for the rec! Yay for recs. The vignette didn't grab me as it did you and others, but then again, I'm tired/burned out nowadays because of work. I'll try reading it again in a few weeks. When Jaded!Destina takes a vacation. *g*

Too depressed/stressed/tired from RL to really appreciate angst. More in the mood for heavily artificial sweetened fic, but I could still see that this was a good piece of writing, especially as a first shot.

I don't know. You young whippersnappers. Get yourself a dungeon and you think you've made it in the Evil Overlord stakes. You don't know what real evil is! I mean, God, these days you can just order your minions from the internet! It was never like that in my day. Oh no. If you wanted your own henchpeople you had to create them yourself... sometimes literally. Those bubbling green beakers weren't just for show, you know! Many's the time I've had to lop off an arm or two, or put out an eye just for those authentic henchperson touches. Oh, happy days. Of course, it's not like that these days. No appreciation for craftsmanship, that's the problem. I used to lovingly handcraft every rivet I used in attaching those steel eyepatches because I cared!

Eeeee. You don't know you're born! Assuming you were, of course ::veg::

(Oh, and I so wanted to be Miss Piggy when I grew up. I seem to have mastered the dimensions but not the striking terror into hearts everywhere and the karate chops. Still... could be worse. I could have to snog frogs ::veg::)

That's as may be, but I was given the title of "nefarious" by someone else, rather than choosing it for myself. I'm not nefarious at all really - I'm sweet and innocent and lovely. It's just negative PR that says otherwise ;)

Would it help if I assured you that all my henchpeople, minions, and sycophants were recruited the old-fashioned way - winning arguments as to my suitability for the role of High Mistress of the World, a sweet smile, and just a touch of brainwashing? ;)

And Miss Piggy definitely had the right life philosophy - if it's not the way you want it to be, kick it until it complies with your wishes. What a role model.
