I think you've given Matt's storyline a lot more thought than I have. Mine kind of went 'hmmm... Look! Prehistoric creatures! Future creatures! Shiny!' Ciaran isn't really my type, I'm afraid, so that may be part of why I haven't looked much further, and maybe it is something to do with him keeping his team at a distance - purplecat had some thoughts on the previous episode she posted only a day or so ago that talks about Matt a lot and her interpretation of both his character and the way the show is going with him, so I think from what you've said you'll really enjoy it.
I'm in full agreement about Abby's hair recently, though. I liked the 'just back from the cretaceous' look, like you, but this choppy, pointy cut doesn't suit her at all. Short or longer but tousled, please.
And anything called New Dawn might as well be called we have a nefarious plot to kill off humanity and replace it with the ~elite~, and we'll decide who is the ~elite~ (hint: it's us!). I mean, not subtle, guys. Not subtle at all.
