alyse: (bunny - zzzz)
( Feb. 12th, 2011 08:16 pm)
1. I think I'm coming down with a cold. I ache and my throat is scratchy and I just want to sleeeeeeeep.

1a. Nibble is also coming down with said cold. Bugger.

2. Sign ups for the [community profile] primevalathon/[livejournal.com profile] primevalathon close in 48 hours. We've had about the normal amount of interest, even if it's more or less wall to wall new names with a couple of notable exceptions. ::eyes the flist meaningfully::

3. For some reason I read one of my old Primeval fics this afternoon, Prelude in C Minor (LJ link). I realise it's not everyone's cup of tea, but actually, I'm still quite proud of that one. I usually feel that the stuff I write isn't that hot, and it never lives up to the way it was in my head, but that one came close, I think. Plus, you know, I usually write for me (even if this one was written for a recipient in one of the [livejournal.com profile] primevalathons), so even if I'm occasionally wincing at the odd clumsy turn of phrase, it still hits enough of my narrative kinks to satisfy on some level, at least. And the recipient liked it, as well as ten other people :) so it's a little more popular than some most of the other Primeval stuff I've written.

4. I was tired this morning, even if I didn't really feel like crap until later, but I still managed to do 40 mins on the bike (16km, babies!). However, that was only after I'd watched The Proposal. I can do rom-coms if I'm in the mood - who says a girl can't love really bad monster movies and rom-coms? Or both together, in the case of MegaShark vs Giant Octopus? (I stand by my theory that Sharktopus? Obvious product of their illicit love!) - and I like Sandra Bullock. However, now I appear to have a Ryan Reynolds thing. Bugger. I mean, I had some of his movies anyway, but now I want more. Have you seen that man without a shirt? Humina.

4a. And as evidence?

5. A few weeks ago, [personal profile] moonlettuce and I were in the cheap DVD shop when she committed an Evil Act! (Possibly accompanied by an Evil Laugh. It's difficult to tell with [personal profile] moonlettuce, because her 'fannish glee' laugh and her 'I am plotting things that you will inevitably end up regretting (but do anyway)' laugh are so similar.) She found a copy of Nature Unleashed: Avalanche in region 2 format (UK and Europe, for those who aren't familiar with region encoding on DVDs. The US is region 1). Now, I have it in Region 1 anyway, but, hey, it was 99p!

Then, once she had thrust the first copy into my hands and watched me clutch it to my chest with a (possibly evil) laugh, she pointed out that there were two copies on the shelf. And the other one would be lonely. I'd already bought a copy for [personal profile] temaris to share the pain because that's just the kind kind of friend I am, but that was in region 1 as well. So I figured I'd give her first refusal, but apparently it was too much Andrew-Lee for her! Two copies of the same DVD? Madness, says she. Essential, says I.

5a. This is a long way of saying that I have a copy of an ALP movie in Region 2 up for grabs for any of my UK/Europe flisties who might be interested. First come, first served, and if no one wants it then it goes into the Connotations raffle. Hey, it totally counts as 'slashy', what with the brothers eye fucking all the way through the movie!

ETA: 6. I'm pretty sure I linked to Prelude in C Minor on LJ and not on DW. Either I'm sicker than I thought, or DW is now smart enough to figure out which equivalent post that is on DW if you've previously crossposted and change the links...

Not sure how I feel about that. Possibly I'm just sicker than I thought. I hope. ::bites nails::

ETA2: Panic over. Turns out that the original part 1 was linked to DW from Part 2 on LJ, and I'd copied that link not realising. And I'm sicker than I thought. ::collapses::
