Huge favour to ask

If anyone is online, and feels like doing me a huge favour, could you let me know the following, please:

i) can you get to wraithbait or csi forensics (or any of the other sites) and actually view stories or log in? The site should load, but if I click on links to stories or category links or try and log in, I can't. Story pages are blank, category and log in pages just default back to the category or log-in page and never go anywhere.

ii) can you let me know what ip address the site is on as well as letting me know if you're having issues or not, please? You can do this by going to the DOS window on your machine (on XP that's by going to 'run' on the start menu, then typing in cmd, on other versions of windows I think there's a DOS prompt in the main menu on start)

Once you have the DOS window up, type in the following:

tracert www.wraithbait.com

Wait til it's run the trace, then give me the last four numbers that it ends on. For the old site, it will be 216.12.218.204 and if it's the new site you're resolving to it will be 67.15.24.204

Thanks. I'm getting the new site and problems. Last night munchkinott was getting problems then no problems, and on checking when she had no problems, she was defaulting back to the old server.

My webhost is not seeing any problems so I need to figure out whether it's a cached thing for me or whether it's a case of my webhost ending up on the old server when she visits the site.

The sites load for me, but I can't login or get any of the stories to come up. I can only get the first page of authors to show up and when I click on them their profiles are blank. This happened last night on my own PC and now as I'm checking at work.

67.15.24.204 is what I get after the trace.

Don't know if it makes much of a difference but I got a review from wraithbait that seems to not actually be for my fic--and received two from forensics but couldn't access either of them.

lol I just checked the site and clicked on titles, I can only look at that first page and if I click on the fic I get a blank page but if I click on reviews the same review shows up for every one (which also happens to be the review I got that wasn't for my fic).

I can't do the second bit (because, quite frankly, I don't understand it and I'm not good at technical stuff) but the first, there don't seem to be any stories at all and I can't get past the first page of author names.

Hmmm new site IP addy from the trace but it's like there's no data in there. I don't know nothing about php but when I click on the authors there's nothing there. No stories. No faves etc.

Thank you. The data seems to be there - I checked on ftp and the text files are definitely there, and even if the worst has happened and the databases corrupted in the move, I backed them up because I am paranoid ::g::

I suspect it's something to do with php initialisation or mySQL on the new server, which means my webhost has to fix it.

All the pages are loading fine, but the story text is missing. I haven't seen anything else missing though.

Yeah, that's what I figured. The stories are there, just can't be pulled from the database.

Last I heard Robin was messing around with mySQL settings and php initialisation.

To which I said 'okay!' and pretended to know what she was talking about ::g::

Wraitbait loads just fine for me, and I can access the fics without any problems - it seems to be on 216.12.218.204.

CSI-forensics otoh - the site loads, but I can't get past the categories to the stories. This one seems to be on 67.15.24.204.

I'm still at work atm, and wouldn't normally access fic sites from here ('cos OMG!frowned-on) so pretty sure I'm not picking up cached copies.

It confirms what I thought - wraithbait, for you, appears to be picking it up from the old server, and works, whereas CSI Forensics is the new server and doesn't.

Definitely something to do with the server, then. If only I knew what :)

Hiya. I've tried my site, and it won't let me log in to view stories either, it just reloads the blank log in page when you click submit.

The command prompt trace ends on 67.15.24.204.

Hey, for what it's worth, I couldn't get into the categories yesterday; today, I can get in and see stuff but yes, I'm looking at the old ip address. Nothing you didn't know of course, but more grist...

Rather entertainingly, and just for fun, I shoved in the new ip address and got the message: this site and Calysta Rose no longer exist.
