I've started another drabble tree over [livejournal.com profile] mckay_sheppard.

Come one, come all and bring your fingers ::g::

I hope it's okay to do this here, delete if not. I'm loving the drabble tree, great stuff and I love how it's really taken on a life of it's own.

I've got one, but I'm stuck going to work today and most likely won't be able to get it finished until tonight. So I'm wondering how late tonight (est) the posting will be open. I'd love to get it in, but even if not, at least this got me writing something. So thanks both for the treats and for getting me going.

John grinned back at Rodney as the Wraith ship exploded in the sky against the backdrop of the setting sun. "It worked."

"Of course it worked. It was an anti-organic particular rearranger gun-- it had to work." But he was smiling, too. John knew he couldn't help it, for all the world's flaws, winning was still exhilirating.

This felt good. They were winning. They couldn't be stopped, because everyone knows that the good guys win in the end.

Teyla came running over the hill from where she and Ronon had been protecting the villagers, her even more-well-endowed bosom bounced with every step, and she launched herself into John's arms. "Amazing!" she exclaimed through kisses.

And there was the snag, because everyone knows that, in the end, the hero always, always, always gets the girl. John looked around Teyla's head to Rodney. Rodney was frowning, but he did not say a word. The rules of this model for the universe were different. They'd known that from the start. They had not expected their friends to slowly succumb to their new, comic book roles, however.

The Wraith were dying and the universe could not prosper in peace.

Except.

What good was the perfect universe if no one withing it had true free will? John sat Teyla aside and went over to Rodney.

"We have to go back," he said in a low voice.

Rodney looked around their technicolor world, Teyla's unnaturally wide grin, and nodded. "I'm working on it now. Zelenka is still in the oscillating stage and is helping when he is normal. We should be ready soon. You realize the Wraith will be back."

"Yeah. But it'd be worth it." John looked out at the bright sky and the smoke still hanging in the air. Victory was a wonderful feeling. He squeezed Rodney's shoulder and left to check on the villagers and Ronon. He would feel such victory again.
