Like so many things.

We were at Alnwick Garden today (and water fight FTW!) and Claire said something about realising just how many words of fic she's written this year so far. And I don't think she was even counting the Tremors pwp texts she randomly sends me just because she wuvs me that much and my screams are always entertaining.

And it got me thinking. So I went and added up what I'd written and posted in the first six months of this year.

And this is what I found.

That's based on Word's word count, and it also includes all the notes etc, because I put those in the word docs and was too lazy to strip them out again to count. But even so. Given how little I've been writing over the last few years, that's bloody impressive. I think March's output alone was greater than all of 2007.

Almost 100,000 words in six months. No wonder my fingers are tired ::g::

Dude. What's even scarier is that because I use eFiction as my homepage script, it tells me how many words I've got archived there.

Well over a million.

Admittedly, one story of around 5,000 words isn't mine (I archived anais' JPIII fic for her) and three or four of the others are co-written rather than just being my work, but even so, still scary ::g:: And there are around 180+ fics on there as well.

It gets even scarier when you realise that my site isn't up to date because I haven't archived all of the mmom fics yet, let alone the beast of the Primeval one.

Funniliy enough a couple of days ago I was curious about the same thing, and did an overall wordcount of all the Primeval fic I've posted since I started in the fandom. Turns out I've got to 138,240 in a little over a year. I'm slightly scared now. That's more Primeval fic in a year that I managed in total for all the other fandoms that I've dabbled in over the last six or seven years.

And it looks like I've been persuaded by various people on my f-list to write more in the 5D/3Y ficverse, so 97,000 words of Connor/Ryan is about to get even longer.

Heh. There's always room for more Connor/Ryan.

It is very scary when it suddenly dawns on you just how much you've written. I upgraded my eFiction archive, and all of a sudden it gave me a total overall word count in my stats. And I realised that I've written - or in three or four cases co-written - more than a million words of fanfic since 1995. And not all of my stuff is on there yet.

I console myself with the thought that the three longest stories on there are all co-written, but it still means I don't know when to stop typing.

I think I need my life back ::g::
