Connor is hard on her heels, panting heavily, but she still reaches the top first, her legs feeling like overcooked spaghetti. He skids to a halt beside her, his hands touching the metal railing a second after hers.
Last month he'd have given up halfway; being chased every day is doing wonders for his fitness levels.
He slides down to the ground, his chest heaving, and takes a swig from his water bottle, swallowing heavily. Water runs down his chin, sticking his t-shirt to his chest.
She watches him and thinks of other ways they could work up a sweat.
