Dear Yuletide Author
First of all, thank you so much for volunteering to write in one of the tiny fandoms of my heart. Just having fic in one of these fandoms is enough to make me happy so I am sure that I will love whatever you write.
I'm going to give you some of my likes and dislikes right up front, because I know some people would rather know that. If you're the kind of person who likes to read what your recipient writes to get a flavour for what they love, then please feel free to check out my fic fandom: tags on my DW/LJ/IJ. I really don't expect you to wade through my stories - I'm just putting it out there in case that's the kind of information you like to have :) - but to date I've written Blade: Trinity (under 'fic fandom: blade trinity') and Alice (2009) (under 'fic fandom: alice').

For most of my fandoms, it's all about the female characters. I like strong, competent women, but strong doesn't necessarily mean break down the door, kick ass strong. I like women in all of their flavours – from the warriors to the homemakers, from the CEOs to those just muddling through – but I like women who are not afraid to speak their mind or take charge or be good at what they do. I have a competence kink, and that's only doubled when the competent person in question is female :)
I like subtlety and understated feelings - I'm more for quiet or awkward exchanges than outright declarations, unless outright declarations are in character, but again feel free to write what you want to write in that line. I don't mind whether you write plot or PWP, because I'm all about the connections between the characters, the friendships built on firm foundations, the love both romantic and practical. I like snark and banter if that's in character, but I also love the quiet moments, gentle touches (whether platonic or shippy) and if you want to go shippy, I love stories about kissing. As far as subject matter goes, at the end of the day it's the words and the rhythms of them that make me happy so whether you want to go slice of life, deeply plotted, or simply write a thousand words of porn, it's all good with me.
Dislikes
Given the above, it is unsurprising that my pet hates are minimising the contributions of female characters or erasing them from the narrative. Other things include characters acting out of character to further the plot rather than the plot arising out of the characters (I love character driven plots - they're my favourite kind). I don't mind hurt/comfort as long as there is some comfort, but I'm not fond of non-con (although I can deal with it when it's canon). I'm afraid that agendafic or extreme kink doesn't do a great deal for me. Also, because Yuletide is my happy place, please no character death or resolutely unhappy endings (angsty or bittersweet are fine, as long as there's some hope).
Hopefully that hasn't scared you off :-) so onto the actual requests, organised alphabetically! The bits in italics are what I actually put into my sign up :)
Alice (2009)
I loved Alice when I first saw it, loved the way that it took the children's story and made it something new, something wonderful and twisted but not out of true, from the concept of the Casino to the flying flamingos. But most of all I loved Alice and Hatter, how sweet they were together, how brave when they needed to be (especially once Hatter found his courage and his Alive), and how he followed her home.
I would love anything in this world about the two of them, even if you don't ship them together. I would love a story set in the quiet places in the mini-series, the missing scenes, the things that weren't explored - exactly what was Hatter doing between them defeating the Queen and Alice returning home? Why did he change his mind and follow her? - or even post the mini-series - did they ever find a way back? Did they ever see The White Knight again or make a lasting kind of peace with Jack?
I don't think I have much to add to what I put into my sign up, except that I really do love the world building in this, so if you want to explore that further - the way in which Wonderland and the Real World are the same or different - that would be great :)
In terms of ideas, because I know some people like prompts while some people don't (so please feel free to ignore any of this if you're one of the people who doesn't like prompts), what about: how Alice moves on now that she's had closure in relation to her father; or how Hatter/David copes with our world instead of his own; or how Carol warms to her daughter's new beau (or not). How does Hatter view our world; how does Alice reconcile Wonderland with the city in which she lives? Does Hatter show her that her world has a wonder all of its own? Or maybe she just takes him out for pizza, since he seemed intrigued (or familiar with?) the concept in the mini-series?
Blade (Movie Series)
I love Abigail. She's smart, strong and brave, and although she's very reserved and not given to showing much on the surface, she feels things deeply. And I love, love, love her with Hannibal King. They complement each other so well, whether you treat their relationship as friendship, as more akin to siblings or – like me – ship it like woah!
As for Hannibal King, what's not to love? He's snarky and crude and rude, but he's just as brave as Abigail, just as strong in different ways, and he's never less than entertaining even if there is more than the occasional hint throughout the movie of something deeper and broken lying just beneath the surface.
Abby and King are definitely my OTP in this fandom so if you could manage it, I would love a story about the pair of them together. However, I do know that not everyone in this fandom is interested in writing het so I really would be just as happy if you wrote gen, exploring their friendship and their partnership, kicking ass and taking names together. My dear yulegoat letter has more details if you need them, but the only thing I would request is please no Drake/King. The pairing dominates the fandom, but female centric stories are very rare and so this is my chance to get something a little different for Christmas :-). Thank you!
I haven't selected any other characters for matching purposes because Abigail and King are definitely my go to characters, but I should say that if you want to include any that strike your fancy, please feel free to include them. While I'd prefer the story to focus on Abigail and King, if that's not possible and you wanted to write Hannibal and Danica before he joins the Night Stalkers, or Abigail bonding with the rest of the Night Stalkers, then that would be fine with me. If you're stuck for ideas and normally write slash, then Hannibal King/Danica Talos is canon and I'm pretty sure she shares everything with her brother, so going for a King/Danica/Asher threesome would definitely be an option :). I also nominated Karen Jenson during the nomination period, even though she's not in Blade: Trinity, so again if you want to throw her into the mix, maybe bonding with Abby, I'd be more than happy.
This is also fandom where I think that non-con is canon (I'm fairly sure that King/Danica wasn't all consensual his side), but while I'm happy for you to explore that, I'd prefer it not to be too explicit.
Again, if you're the kind of person who likes prompts (and please feel free to skip if you don't :)), then some of my favourite things to explore in fic for this fandom are: how Abigail and King first met and how she rescued him; scenes of them taking vampires down together and working as a team; Abigail and King raising Zoë post-movie; first times or even the opposite - them already being in an established relationship by the time the movie rolls around; how they fit into a world where DayStar has worked and vampires no longer exist; how the Nightstalkers inherited the work on the antivirus that Karen began in the first movie, and how that translated into a cure for King; what it's like for the Nightstalkers living in Blade's shadow and does the man measure up to the myth.
However are all just prompts in case you like them, so please feel free to ignore them and go your own way.
Lake Placid
Strange though it may sound, Lake Placid is one of my comfort movies. I love all four of the main characters, the banter between them and the way that they interact, growing to respect and care for each other during the course of the movie. I have a particular fondness for the pairings of Jack/Kelly and Hank/Hector, but I'd be just as happy with gen.
Plus, I have a weakness for films in which monsters eat people in a PG-like fashion. Everyone needs a guilty pleasure and that's mine.
I love Kelly's brittleness and Jack's down to earth nature. I love Hank's exasperation with the whole lot of them and Hector's bullshit and complete lack of personal boundaries. I love the snark that flies whenever they get together, from one word to whole sentence sarcastic. The movie works so well because of the interpersonal relationships so anything I could get to carry that on would be an absolute pleasure.
Again, I don't think I have anything to add to my signup and the only real prompts I can give relate to the fact that I love the way the characters interact so you could pretty much write them meeting up at a coffee shop afterwards and I would be perfectly content. I think there is only one Hank/Hector fic in existence - and it's pretty much canon following the chewing the bark comment ::g:: - and none about Jack and Kelly, so this truly is one of the teeny, tiny fandoms of my heart.
Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries
I fell hard for this show when it first aired and I've since read all of the books I could get my hands on (most of them, I think). I love all of the characters, Phryne being my absolute favourite and Jack a close second, but I also love Dot and Hugh, Cec and Burt, Mr Butler, Camelia and Lin Chung, even Phryne's Aunt Prudence. I love how smart Phryne is, how fearless. I love the exchanges she has with Jack, including her matter of factness about her ability to take care of herself and disregard for the law when it hinders her doing what she wants to, and his exasperation with her. ("If a tree falls in a forest..." "You'll be somewhere close by, holding an axe.") I love Hugh and Dot's tentative romance, and Dot and Phryne's friendship, the way that it inspires Dot to be braver than she ever thought possible. I love Mr Butler's avuncular care of his charges, including Jane, and his unflappable ability to cope with his mistress' peculiarities. I love Dr Mac, and the way she trusts Phryne and Phryne trusts her. I love Phryne's non-judgemental nature and her refusal to limit herself because of social norms.
Anything you write for me about these characters would be a joy. I love the two canon UST/relationships of Phryne and Jack, and Dot and Hugh, but gen is fine as is pretty much any other combination. I'd prefer het or femslash to slash, simply because I'm all about the female characters :) but other than that, have fun and roll on Season 2!
I don't think I have much to add to my sign up. I love the cases that Phryne deals with, and her ability to think outside the box. I love her open mindedness and the way it seems to rub off on most people around her (Aunt Prudence possibly being an exception :)). I love her self-confidence and the fact that she's sexually liberated (although you certainly don't have to write sex :)), and I love her curiosity and her refusal to be sidelined or diverted from what she thinks is right.
In terms of prompts, I'm afraid my mind is a bit blank except for 'ALL THE SHINY THINGS!' but anything that maybe explores the characters, from Jack's exasperation to Hugh's nervousness, from Dot's slowly loosening but still firm sense of morality to Phryne's gaiety and impulsive generosity. Case fic or slice of life, picnic or PWP, anything would be brilliant, really. If you'd like something more concrete, maybe something about Phryne finally achieving closure in respect to her sister, or maybe Foyle still trying to torment here even now and how she reacts to that.
