Have decided I'm not a fandom whore. I would like to be a fandom whore, but I'm not. I'd like to be one of those self-possessed women who saunters into a fandom, slashes to her heart's content and wanders out again whistling cheerfully and leaving broken hearts in her wake. I'd like to be the kind of woman who drags muses into bed, uses them heartlessly and kicks them out again when she's had enough of them before moving onto the next one. The Linda Fiorentino of the fandom world. The Last Tango in Fandom, butter included.

But nooooo. I have to be Serial Monogamy!Writer. I can't flirt with muses - I have to enter into a committed and long-term relationship. The closest I've come was SW:TPM where I dallied for six months, wrote a couple of short stories then moved on to the New Pros... and that's hardly sluttish behaviour. In fact, it took several months of wooing by the muses, flowers, chocolates, moonlight walks before I succumbed and gave them what they wanted, only to be wooed away by my boys.

And once I've moved on I don't date exes. Can't. Oh to be able to sneak off for an afternoon to a sleazy motel for a roll in the hay for old times sake. The closest, and only time, I've been able to do that is a little h/c flirting with Chris yesterday, and I'm terrified Jack and Daniel will find out and there will be a scene.

I keep peering wistfully over the fence at Dylan and Harper, cast longing glances back at Sam and Chris and yet sit there, politely being faithful to Daniel and Jack and tell myself that monogamy is important, that I'm not missing out by keeping to these old fashioned morals and there's nothing satisfying about hot, sweaty one night stands. That fandom whores don't have more fun. I don't really believe me.

Oh, to be a fandom whore.

Al, dear, are you trying to tell us something? ::eg::

I'd like to be one of those self-possessed women who saunters into a fandom, slashes to her heart's content and wanders out again whistling cheerfully and leaving broken hearts in her wake.

Ah now I have a different problem with fandoms ... I may saunter into them but I never really saunter out, they just stack up. Even I-man where I cannot stand a lot of the fic ... I'm still on the mailing list (no mail) so I can go and peek every now and then :-). Last count I'm on 97 mailing lists (and that's just the Yahoo! ones) and most of those are fanfic lists.

The closest, and only time, I've been able to do that is a little h/c flirting with Chris yesterday, and I'm terrified Jack and Daniel will find out and there will be a scene.

Oh, but what a scene ::eg::. You could try your hand at the xover genre ... it means you never really have to say goodbye: you just introduce the exes to the current boys and let them play :-). You'd be amazed how inventive they become ::eg::.

I mean ... Cooper and Jack would be worth reading :-). Or Cooper/Daniel, or Jack/Chris or Chris/Sam or any combination of the above names ::eg::. Hot sweaty Tank and hot sweaty archeologist has some great possibilities.

Damn it and damn you! ::mutters darkly:: Evil crossover pusher and enabler!

*Cackles in a most evil manner*
See once you start thinking about these things they just keep popping up. You'd be amazed how you can seamlessly crow bar one universe into another ::eg::. If you want to do the time travel and the dimension shift you can always have some weird accident with the quantum mirror interacting with that time machine from the timeloop ep. Or you could bring Cooper back in time and swap dimensions from the SAAB side by using a hammerhead and a spacial annomoly created by the latest Chig super weapon. Don't you think Coop would make a nice addition to the Stargate program? *blinks innocently*

Oh shit. Gone there.

See, it's much easier if you just accept it as inevitable *innocent smile*.

*pout* Now where's the fun in that? *g*

Look at it this way, Al. Someone takes you to Thornton's (and we're surprised that I choose this as a metaphor why, precisely? *eg*), and asks you to choose your favourite type of chocolate, which you do. You enjoy that for a while, then you see another chocolate that you want to try, but that person then tells you that once you've tried this new type, you can never go back and eat the old ones again...well what's the point in that?

My motto (for writing type things anyway, I'm still trying to ease my RL into agreeing with this *g*) - try as many things as you can, for as long as you can. There's a reason why Pick 'n' Mix is so popular :)
